1. About Lumen Weekly and These Terms

Lumen Weekly is a reflective writing platform designed to encourage introspection, thoughtful expression, personal growth, learning, and meaningful connection through ideas.

The platform allows users to write and publish reflections, read the writing of others, participate in discussions, follow and connect with authors, exchange private messages where available, and use other features offered by Lumen Weekly.

Some features are available without charge, while certain features or levels of access may require Premium access.

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Lumen Weekly.

By creating an account, using Lumen Weekly, or purchasing Premium access, you agree to these Terms and to our Community Guidelines.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the platform.

2. Product Evolution

Lumen Weekly is an evolving product.

Features, functionality, interfaces, access rules, and Premium benefits may be added, modified, limited, replaced, or removed as the platform develops.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide a reliable experience and, where appropriate, to communicate material changes affecting paid services.

We do not guarantee that every feature will remain permanently available or unchanged.

Any changes affecting mandatory consumer rights will be handled in accordance with applicable law.

3. Eligibility

You may use Lumen Weekly only if you are legally able to enter into these Terms.

Lumen Weekly is not intended for children under the age of 16.

If we become aware that an account belongs to a child under 16, we may take appropriate steps to deactivate the account and handle associated personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

4. Your Account and Pseudonym

To use Lumen Weekly, you need to create an account.

You are responsible for:

• providing accurate information where required;
• keeping your login credentials secure;
• activity carried out through your account;
• complying with these Terms and the Community Guidelines.

Lumen Weekly supports pseudonymous participation.

You do not need to use your real name publicly, and your email address is not publicly displayed by Lumen Weekly.

Your pseudonym must comply with the Community Guidelines and the values of the platform.

Pseudonymity does not exempt you from responsibility for your conduct. You must not use it to harass others, impersonate another person, manipulate the community, evade moderation, or bypass account or platform restrictions.

5. Public Content

For the purposes of these Terms, Public Content means content that you intentionally submit or publish for participation in the shared Lumen Weekly experience.

Public Content may include:

• published reflections;
• discussion posts;
• highlights;
• previews or excerpts created from published reflections;
• other material that you intentionally make available through public or shared community features.

Drafts, unpublished writing, and Private Messages are not Public Content.

You are responsible for your Public Content and for ensuring that you have the right to submit or publish it.

Drafts and Unpublished Writing

Drafts and unpublished reflections are intended to remain within your private writing space.

They are stored and processed as necessary to provide the service, subject to technical operation, security, backup, moderation where applicable, and legal obligations as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Published Reflections

When you publish a reflection, you intentionally make it available within the shared Lumen Weekly space.

Published reflections may be visible to logged-in users, may appear in Discover or other platform-supported areas, and may be associated with information such as your pseudonym, relevant weekly theme, publication date, selected highlight, preview, and interaction signals.

Publishing a reflection on Lumen Weekly is not the same as keeping a private journal.

You should not publish information that you are not comfortable having read by other users within the intended platform experience.

Discussions

Lumen Weekly may provide discussion spaces where users exchange thoughts and perspectives around selected topics.

Content you publish in a discussion is intended to be visible to users who have access to that discussion.

Discussion participation is subject to these Terms, the Community Guidelines, moderation, and any participation limits or product rules that may apply.

Highlights and External Sharing

A highlight is a short part of a reflection selected or edited by the author for discovery.

Highlights, previews, themes, pseudonyms, and limited contextual information may appear as part of a platform-supported public preview when a published reflection is shared outside Lumen Weekly.

Lumen Weekly may allow Public Content to be shared through limited previews, links, or similar supported features.

People who are not logged in may therefore see limited information such as a theme, pseudonym, selected highlight, preview, context, and call to action.

Unless the platform explicitly provides otherwise, full reflections are not intended to become publicly accessible outside the intended Lumen Weekly experience.

Users may not copy, reproduce, republish, publicly screenshot, present as their own, commercially exploit, or otherwise distribute another author's complete work outside the intended Lumen Weekly experience without permission.

We cannot fully prevent users from copying, taking screenshots, or sharing content outside the platform. Misuse of another author's writing may result in moderation or account action.

6. Authorship, Moral Rights, and Economic Rights

You remain the author of your Public Content and retain any moral rights that cannot be transferred under applicable law.

By uploading, submitting, publishing, translating, displaying, sharing, or otherwise making Public Content available on or through Lumen Weekly, you irrevocably assign and transfer to Lumen Weekly, without remuneration, all transferable economic rights in such Public Content to the extent necessary or useful for the operation, protection, moderation, development, improvement, promotion, and provision of Lumen Weekly and its related services, including platform-supported sharing features, limited public previews, technical processing, storage, backup, translation, display versions, moderation, safety review, and community protection.

These rights include, to the extent permitted by applicable law, the right to reproduce, store, host, process, publish, display, distribute, communicate to the public, make available to the public, translate, adapt for technical or display purposes, create previews, excerpts, highlights, translated versions, and other display versions of the Public Content, and otherwise use the Public Content in connection with Lumen Weekly and its related services.

For published reflections, this includes making the reflection available to logged-in Lumen Weekly users within the platform, and making limited parts of the content, such as the selected highlight, theme, author pseudonym, context, preview, and call to action, available outside the platform through Lumen Weekly-supported sharing features or links.

For discussion posts, this includes making the post available within the relevant discussion and processing it as necessary for moderation, translation, safety, platform operation, and other functions described in these Terms.

This assignment does not apply to Private Messages, drafts, or unpublished writing.

Private Messages are governed separately by Section 7 of these Terms.

This does not give other users ownership of your writing. Other users may read and interact with your Public Content only within the intended Lumen Weekly experience and may share it only through Lumen Weekly-supported sharing features where available.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload, submit, publish, or otherwise make available any Public Content you provide, and that your Public Content does not violate any third-party rights.

7. Private Messages

Lumen Weekly may allow eligible users who are Connected through the platform to exchange private messages.

Private Messages are separate from Public Content.

They are not published as reflections or discussion posts, are not intended to be publicly visible, and are not subject to the Public Content rights regime described in Section 6.

You retain your rights in the messages you write.

By sending a Private Message, you authorize Lumen Weekly to process, store, transmit, translate where requested, moderate, and otherwise handle the message only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide the messaging feature;
• deliver and display messages to the intended participant;
• support requested translation;
• detect and prevent abuse;
• support moderation and safety;
• investigate reports;
• enforce these Terms and the Community Guidelines;
• meet legitimate technical, operational, security, or legal requirements.

Private Messages are intended to be accessible only to participants in the relevant conversation through the normal user experience.

Lumen Weekly does not provide administrators with unrestricted access to private conversations.

Where moderation, safety, abuse prevention, or a user report requires review, authorized administrators may receive limited relevant message context.

Where additional context is genuinely necessary, an authorized administrator may explicitly access a full conversation through the administrative interface. Such full-conversation access is logged.

Authorized technical personnel may also access message data where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal, or operational purposes.

Private Messages may not be used to harass, threaten, intimidate, abuse, deceive, scam, spam, or otherwise harm another user, or to evade moderation or platform restrictions.

Additional messaging rules are described in the Community Guidelines.

8. Respect for Other Authors' Writing

Other authors retain authorship of their reflections and writing.

You may read, engage with, respond to, and be inspired by Public Content within the intended Lumen Weekly experience.

You may not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, publicly screenshot, present as your own, use commercially, or otherwise misuse another author's writing outside the platform without permission.

Where Lumen Weekly provides supported sharing features, you may use those features to share limited previews or links.

9. Community Guidelines and Moderation

By using Lumen Weekly, you agree to follow our Community Guidelines.

You must not use the platform to:

• harm or harass others;
• violate applicable law;
• infringe third-party rights;
• manipulate or abuse the community;
• evade moderation;
• interfere with platform safeguards;
• undermine the reflective and respectful nature of Lumen Weekly.

Lumen Weekly may review, moderate, approve, reject, hold for review, hide, remove, withdraw, or limit the visibility or delivery of content where we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, applicable law, or the purpose and integrity of the platform.

Where supported by current functionality, users may be given the opportunity to revise and resubmit content that has been rejected or removed.

Repeated violations, attempts to bypass moderation, or patterns of misuse may result in participation limits, publishing limits, messaging restrictions, feature restrictions, account restrictions, suspension, or termination.

Serious violations may result in immediate restriction or termination.

We may also apply rate limits, submission limits, or other protective measures where reasonably necessary to preserve platform quality, reduce abuse, or protect users.

Users may be able to report content, conversations, or behaviour that appears inappropriate, harmful, abusive, or inconsistent with the Community Guidelines.

Reporting does not guarantee that content will be removed or that action will be taken against another user.

Lumen Weekly may use human review, automated tools, AI-assisted tools, or a combination of these to support moderation, safety, translation, abuse prevention, and quality review.

10. Translation and Display Versions

Lumen Weekly may support multiple languages and may provide translated or display versions of user-created material.

Translations may be generated automatically or with the assistance of third-party or AI-based tools and may not always be complete or accurate.

The original text remains the user's authored work.

Translated or display versions are provided to support multilingual use of the platform and improve accessibility.

Lumen Weekly is not responsible for inaccuracies inherent in automated translations, subject to any rights that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Free and Premium Access

Lumen Weekly may provide both free and Premium access.

Some features may be available to all users, while others may require an active Premium entitlement.

Premium access may be:

• purchased through a recurring subscription;
• promotional;
• complimentary;
• lifetime;
• granted through another eligibility or entitlement mechanism made available by Lumen Weekly.

The features included in Free and Premium access may evolve over time.

The current Premium features, available plans, billing periods, and applicable conditions are shown within Lumen Weekly or on the relevant pricing or purchase page.

Recurring billing provisions in these Terms apply only to paid recurring subscriptions.

Promotional, complimentary, or lifetime access may be subject to separate eligibility conditions stated when that access is granted.

12. Premium Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal

Paid Premium subscriptions are offered for the billing periods displayed before purchase.

A paid recurring subscription is charged in advance for the selected billing period.

Unless cancelled before the next renewal, the subscription automatically renews for another billing period of the same type and the applicable subscription amount is charged through the payment provider.

By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize recurring charges in accordance with the subscription you selected and the payment terms shown at checkout.

The price and billing period applicable to your purchase are shown before you complete the transaction.

Lumen Weekly may change subscription prices from time to time.

A price change does not retroactively change a billing period that has already been paid.

Where required or appropriate, changes affecting an existing recurring subscription will apply prospectively and reasonable notice will be provided in accordance with applicable law.

Available subscription plans, billing periods, and purchase options may change over time.

Lumen Weekly does not guarantee that switching, upgrading, downgrading, or prorating between plans will be available unless such functionality is explicitly offered.

13. Payments Through Creem

Premium purchases are processed through Creem, operated by:

Creem acts as the Merchant of Record for Premium transactions processed through its service.

As Merchant of Record, Creem may be responsible for activities including:

• processing payments;
• billing administration;
• collecting the amount due from the customer;
• issuing receipts or invoices;
• calculating and collecting applicable VAT, sales tax, or other indirect taxes;
• handling certain refund, payment dispute, or transaction-related processes.

Lumen Weekly Labs DOO remains responsible for providing the Lumen Weekly service and the Premium features associated with a valid Premium entitlement.

Your purchase transaction may also be subject to Creem's applicable Buyer Terms, payment terms, and privacy practices.

14. Prices and Taxes

Subscription prices displayed by Lumen Weekly are stated exclusive of applicable taxes, unless expressly indicated otherwise.

Depending on your country, location, customer status, and applicable tax rules, Creem may add VAT, sales tax, or other applicable taxes at checkout.

The final amount payable, including any applicable taxes, will be shown before you complete the purchase.

Payment receipts, invoices, and transaction-related tax documentation may be issued by Creem in its role as Merchant of Record.

15. Cancellation

You may cancel a recurring Premium subscription through the available billing or customer portal or through another cancellation method made available for your subscription.

Cancellation prevents future automatic renewal.

Unless otherwise stated or required by applicable law, cancellation does not immediately terminate Premium access for a billing period that has already been paid.

Premium access normally remains available until the end of the current paid billing period.

There is no guaranteed grace period after the end of a paid billing period.

Premium access is available only while you have a valid and active Premium entitlement.

If a renewal or payment is not successfully completed, Premium access may end when the current paid period expires or when the relevant subscription or entitlement is no longer active.

16. Refunds and Payment Adjustments

Except where required by applicable law or otherwise expressly stated at the time of purchase, subscription payments are generally non-refundable.

Lumen Weekly may determine that a refund is appropriate in circumstances such as:

• a billing error;
• a duplicate charge;
• a material service issue;
• suspected fraud;
• another justified circumstance.

Refunds for transactions processed through Creem are processed through Creem as Merchant of Record.

A cancellation of a recurring subscription does not by itself create a right to a refund for an already-paid billing period.

If a payment is refunded, reversed, disputed successfully, or otherwise ceases to be valid, the related Premium entitlement may be adjusted or removed accordingly.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have under applicable law, including any applicable statutory right of withdrawal.

Where a purchase is processed through Creem, applicable withdrawal rights and procedures may also be governed by Creem's Buyer Terms.

17. Account Deletion and Active Subscriptions

You may request deletion of your Lumen Weekly account by contacting:

Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions.

A request to delete your Lumen Weekly account does not, by itself, constitute cancellation of a recurring Premium subscription.

If you have an active recurring subscription and do not want it to renew, you are responsible for cancelling the subscription through the available billing or customer portal, or another provided cancellation method, before requesting account deletion.

Data associated with account deletion is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

18. Suspension, Termination, and Premium Access

You may stop using Lumen Weekly at any time.

Lumen Weekly may restrict, suspend, deactivate, terminate, or ban an account where the user:

• violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines;
• seriously or repeatedly misuses the platform;
• harms or harasses other users;
• attempts to evade moderation or restrictions;
• violates applicable law;
• acts against the safety, integrity, or intended purpose of Lumen Weekly.

Serious violations may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Suspension or termination may also restrict or end access to Premium features.

Suspension or termination resulting from a user's violation of these Terms or the Community Guidelines does not automatically create a right to a refund, except where required by applicable law or provided under the refund rules applicable to the transaction.

Where technically and legally possible, you may be able to request access to or deletion of personal data, subject to the Privacy Policy and reasonable legal, safety, fraud-prevention, moderation, and operational limitations.

19. Personal Growth, Not Professional Advice

Lumen Weekly is intended for reflection, writing, inspiration, learning, meaningful exchange, and personal development.

Content on Lumen Weekly is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, spiritual, or other professional advice.

If you are dealing with a serious personal, emotional, medical, legal, financial, or other specialist issue, you should seek support from an appropriately qualified professional.

20. Privacy

Your use of Lumen Weekly is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, what service providers may process it, and what rights you may have.

21. Intellectual Property of Lumen Weekly

The Lumen Weekly name, branding, visual identity, interface, prompts, themes, design, software, and platform materials are owned by Lumen Weekly or licensed to us.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, commercially exploit, or otherwise use Lumen Weekly's brand, design, software, or platform materials without permission, except where permitted by applicable law.

Your own Public Content and Private Messages remain subject to Sections 6 and 7 of these Terms.

22. Platform Availability and Changes

We will make reasonable efforts to keep Lumen Weekly available and reliable.

However, we cannot guarantee that the platform will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available.

Maintenance, security issues, technical problems, third-party service failures, product development, or other circumstances may temporarily affect availability.

We may update, suspend, modify, or discontinue parts of the platform as the product evolves.

Where a material change significantly affects an active paid service, we will take reasonable steps to communicate that change where appropriate and as required by applicable law.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lumen Weekly shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the platform.

Lumen Weekly is also not responsible for losses or claims resulting from another user's conduct, content, messages, or misuse of the platform, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that using Lumen Weekly will produce any particular personal, emotional, social, creative, professional, relationship, or wellbeing outcome.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

24. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Lumen Weekly evolves.

If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, for example by posting the updated Terms on the platform or sending a service-related notice.

The updated Terms will apply from the effective date shown at the top of the document.

Where applicable law requires additional notice, consent, or other steps before a change takes effect, we will follow those requirements.

Your continued use of Lumen Weekly after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where legally permitted.

If you do not agree with updated Terms, you may stop using the platform and, where applicable, cancel your recurring subscription before its next renewal.

25. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, subject to any mandatory consumer protections or other rights that may apply under the laws of your country of residence.

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve it informally.
